About the service
Laser hair removal is a cosmetic treatment that uses an intense beam of light to remove unwanted hair. The process involves using a laser beam to pass through the skin and into the hair follicle, damaging it and inhibiting future hair growth. At Elixir, we use Diolaze. Diolaze with ND:YAG wavelengths is an advanced laser hair removal procedure that safely and gently eliminates unwanted hair. It has one of the largest treatment spot sizes, making treatments convenient and fast.

HOW DOES LASER HAIR REMOVAL WORK?
The pigment in your hair root absorbs the laser’s energy while in its active phase of growth, which damages the hair follicle without harming the surrounding tissue. Hair regrowth is then slowed or stopped in the damaged follicle. Not all follicles are active at the same time, so you will need repeat treatments every few weeks to achieve the desired result. Laser hair removal can also be used to treat razor bumps/ingrown hairs (pseudo folliculitis barbae), delivering outstanding results in just a few treatments.
DOES IT HURT?
Diolaze has a built-in skin cooling surface, which is one of the largest for all hair removal devices. This makes treatment more comfortable than other devices, with most patients noting that Diolaze is virtually painless.
HOW TO PREPARE FOR YOUR TREATMENT?
Ensure the area is shaved 24 hours prior to arrival. Avoid glycolic acid and vitamin A for 3 days. Do not wax, tweeze, or bleach the hairs – the laser will target the root of the hair, and any waxing or plucking will temporarily remove the root.
We also recommend avoiding sun exposure for six weeks before and after your treatment. Sun exposure will not only make the laser treatment less effective, but it will also increase your chances of experiencing complications after your treatment.
HOW DOES THE AFTERCARE WORK?
There are a number of actions to take after your laser hair removal treatment:
- Do not expose the areas to sunlight for one week and wear sunscreen with SPF30 for 6 weeks afterwards.
- Avoid hot baths, showers, saunas, and excessive exercise for 3 days.
- Avoid glycolic acid products and vitamin A products for 5 days.
- Apply a cold compress if necessary.
- Apply moisturiser if necessary to the treatment area.
Aftercare is vital, and ignoring the above can result in complications. We offer excellent patient aftercare and are here to support you at every stage of your treatment journey.
WHY DO I NEED MULTIPLE TREATMENTS TO ACHIEVE HAIR REMOVAL?
As with all laser hair removal methods, Diolaze requires a series of treatments. Laser hair removal works best when hair follicles are in their mature stage; however, at any given time, your hair is in various stages of growth.
HOW MANY SESSIONS ARE REQUIRED?
With each treatment, hair is reduced, and the best results are observed after four to six sessions. The number of sessions will differ depending on your hair colour, hair type, body area, and skin tone. The average patient in clinical studies sees a 48% reduction in hair growth after three treatments and up to an 80% lasting reduction after six to eight treatments.
