Alopecia and TrichoTest
We offer two tests to identify the main causes of your hair loss, one focused on topical medications and the other on nutritional factors. This helps us create a bespoke plan tailored to your specific needs.
About the service
Alopecia (hair loss) is a progressive, multifactorial condition that has various forms and causes, determined by a combination of genetic and extrinsic factors. Both of these factors should be addressed as a whole during alopecia treatment. Approximately 80 million men and women suffer from hair loss and thinning. The most common form of hair loss, known as androgenetic alopecia, is hereditary. If left untreated, hair loss typically progresses over time. TrichoTest™ provides invaluable information to support practitioners in developing the optimal treatment plan for each patient.
The categories identified through your test serve as the best consultation tool currently available.
The treatment involves a personalised approach to tackling hair loss by identifying both genetic and external factors. It starts with the TrichoTest™, a DNA analysis that identifies genetic markers related to hair loss, particularly androgenetic alopecia, a hereditary condition. Along with this, a nutritional and lifestyle assessment is conducted to uncover any deficiencies or factors that may be contributing to the problem. By combining these insights, a bespoke treatment plan is created to target the root causes of hair loss, offering solutions that may include medication, supplements, and lifestyle changes tailored to your specific needs.
Once the test results are available, a consultation with a trichologist or dermatologist helps formulate a treatment strategy. This can involve topical treatments, prescription medications, or growth factors designed to stimulate hair regrowth. With ongoing monitoring and adjustments to the plan, the treatment aims to stop or slow down hair loss, while promoting healthier, thicker hair over time. This targeted, personalised treatment plan addresses both genetic and environmental factors for the best chance of success.
How It Works:
1. DNA Collection
A DNA sample is collected via 1-minute buccal cheek swab, a questionnaire is filled out, and both are easily sent back directly to the Fagron Genomics lab.
2. Send Sample
Then Fagron Genomics will process each patient’s sample, and typically within 4-5 weeks will upload each report to the provider’s online portal account.
3. Results
Finally, the provider goes over the report with each patient and recommends lifestyle and diet changes.
Our trichologist then formulates a bespoke plan for patients based on the identifying factors of your hairloss. This may include supplements, medication or growthfactors as well as your individual nutritional needs.
